Messages from We Can Change the World Day 3

Although it was the snowiest day of 2017, those who made it to the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts on February 12th left with some important inspirational messages.

Founder of We Can Change the World Day Heather Skoll left the audience with the message that “Together, not only CAN we change the world, we CHANGE the world!”

Hannah Alper, 14 year old speaker, WE Ambassador, and blogger taught us the equation: GIFT + ISSUE/ CAUSE = CHANGE

Tai Young, 13 year old Easter Seal Ambassador, and future paralympic wheelchair fencer was a true role model of a positive attitude. We learned from Tai that anything is possible.

Wali Shah, spoken word poet, gave a powerful account that taught us how we should treat everyone with respect. We are all Canadians regardless of where we came from.

Craig Kielburger, Co-Founder of WE (formerly Free the Children), told a fantastic story whose moral is “Together we are stronger”.

MCs Rosie Ferguson and Mike Atom from 105.9 The Region brought their enthusiastic voices to the event.

The event was topped off with original songs from Delicia Raveenthrarajan and Ayaz V’s, and dances by The Rising Suns and the Laasya Kala Kendra dancersLisa Sonshine and Brock Burford (Sonshine & Broccoli children’s entertainers) joined Mark Pezzelato ,10 year old singer Isabella Tomasso and grade 8 student Michael on drums for the finale song “Me to We”.

“Me to WE”, originally written by OIAM (One In A Million) band got everyone up on their feet dancing and singing these words:

“We are strong, and we are brave,
We are the power, the passion,
Me to WE”.
