Plant Month at Village Market kickstarts the Growing Season
Starting Saturday May 6th, the Village Market will be celebrating plant month with the arrival of two local organic growers of garden plants — herbs, tomatoes and vegetables — for transplanting directly into your garden. These two greenhouse growers — Linda Kapeleris from Queensville, and Urban Harvest from Toronto — come to the Village Market each year in May to give gardeners a head start on the season.

Plant season at the Village Market usually continues all through May and sometimes into the first or second week of June.

Although the Village Market is open all year, things really get going in the spring once the greenhouse growers arrive with their plants in May.

Spring specialties at the market also include wild leeks, and maybe fiddleheads in the next week or two. Local organic greenhouse green have been at the Market all winter and will continue into the spring.
