2018 Municipal Election: Office of the Mayor - Dave Barrow

10520 Yonge St., Unit 16B
L4C 3C7
Richmond Hill
289 379-9803

When re-elected, Dave will continue to work with you the residents to determine our future plans.

He believes in working with the residents not just for the residents.

Dave’s plan for the next 4 years is to:

  • continue our Economic Vitality
  • build a Strong Community
  • manage our Growth to respect the existing neighbourhoods
  • lead a Responsive and Efficient Government

As a town we must protect and enhance our buildings, streetscapes, environment with trails and parks as our quality of place affects our quality of life. This gives us a sense of identity that unites us as residents.

Dave has often said “it is what you do and how you conduct yourself between elections is more important than what you say and how you conduct yourself at election time, are you engaged in our town or not.

The 2016 Community Survey indicated that you as residents said that 96% WERE VERY OR SOMEWHAT SATISFIED with Richmond Hill as a place to live and that 94% WERE VERY OR SOMEWHAT SATISFIED with the services you receive.

Dave knows that gives us a sense of pride in our various unique neighbourhoods.

Dave understands that change is inevitable in the Greater Toronto Area as set out through the Provinces Growth Plan. He has seen many changes in the last few years that allow us to be more controlled but also more respectful of existing neighbourhoods such as the changes to the Ontario Municipal Board. He knows that we do not have to sacrifice those neighbourhoods in order to grow and change.

It is the provincial mandate of 28,000 more people in Richmond Hill by 2041.  This is attracting some infrastructure projects in roads, bus transit on Yonge Street and a subway from Finch to Hwy #7 and Yonge Street. Yes, in the short term it will cause more gridlock on our roads while they are being worked on to create the required transportation corridors. But we will have a better transit system.

As Mayor, Dave understands the plans that are needed to look long into the future, and has been leading those plans for the last 12 years to meet our wishes for the community that we call home.
