Join Richmond Hill Fire & Emergency Services - and everyone's favorite fire safety mascot, Sparky the Fire Dog - for a free community celebration to kick off Fire Prevention Week, running October 5–11!
This year’s theme, “Charge into Fire Safety", shines a spotlight on the safe use of lithium-ion batteries - the kind found in phones, laptops, e-bikes, and more. These powerful batteries are everywhere, but they can pose serious fire risks if not handled properly. That’s why this year’s campaign focuses on three key safety actions: BUY smart. CHARGE safely. RECYCLE responsibly.
At theOpen House, you’ll learn how to protect your home and loved ones by using lithium-ion batteries the right way.
Plus, enjoy:
- Live demonstrations, including auto extrication and a fire truck simulator
- Kid-friendly games and activities
- Hands-on safety tips from our expert fire crews
- Meet-and-greet with Sparky the Fire Dog!
Whether you're a tech-savvy teen or a parent with curious little ones, there's something for everyone.
Let’s work together to keep Richmond Hill safe!
