Richmond Hill Public Library (RHPL) is proud to announce it will be hosting the internationally renowned Tehran Book Fair, Uncensored, taking place May 31 and June 1 at the Central Branch.

This powerful literary event gives voice to Persian authors and publishers whose works are censored or banned in Iran—and this year, it's coming to Richmond Hill. 

Now in its ninth year, the Tehran Book Fair, Uncensored is a global movement that celebrates the freedom to write, read, and publish. Held in cities across Europe and North America the fair provides a platform for independent Persian publishers and exiled Persian authors to share their stories and ideas with the world. 

Highlights of the Two-Day Event Include:

  • Panel Discussions on censorship, freedom of expression, and human rights 
  • Art Workshops for all ages

  • Children’s Programs in Persian and English

With programs in both Farsi and English, this free, all-ages event invites the community to discover rich Persian literary traditions and support the universal right to read freely. 

The Tehran Book Fair, Uncensored was founded in 2016 by Azadeh Parsapour of Nogaam Publishing, a champion of banned and exiled Persian writers. Since its inception, it has become a beacon for free expression, cultural preservation, and diaspora storytelling.
