Some thoughts from The Alliance for a Liveable Ontario
The Alliance for a Liveable Ontario (ALO) has had countless conversations with people from across the ALO network, including with many people in Richmond Hill.
Almost everyone had the same message: 'We need actions that build a liveable Ontario and provide a hopeful vision for the future, and address real pressing needs, and promise tangible benefits to people.'
Political leaders talk about building infrastructure to help businesses grow the economy. There’s been lots of discussion about nation-building projects to help protect us from Trump’s tariffs. They’re talking about expanding ports, building tunnels under the 401 and building new gas and oil pipelines.
But will these projects directly help Canadians where they live? Will they make life more affordable, help create housing people can afford, prepare our neigbhourhoods for an uncertain climate future and secure our water and food?
It’s time to advocate for nation-building projects that work for you and your community, not just big companies.
ALO has come up with three nation-building projects that provide hope, a vision, help solve pressing needs and promise tangible benefits to people.
- Build homes people can afford.
- Build liveable communities.
- Build food and water security.
ALO has asked us to 'Till the Soil' for our Nation-Building Projects!
Connect with your networks. Ask them whether they think the nation-building projects suggested so far would make their lives more affordable, create liveable communities and guarantee our food and water security.
Then let them know about what the ALO is planning. Consider sending them this email.
Canadians deserve nation building projects that work for them!
