Female‑identifying high school students in Richmond Hill are invited to experience what it’s really like to work in fire and emergency services as Project Blaze returns for its 5th year!
Over three immersive days, May 22 - 24, 2026, you’ll rotate through different scenarios and activities - supported by RHFES staff who love what they do and want to share it.
This is an opportunity to find out how your skills and interests can propel you in to an exciting career in:
- Fire Suppression (Firefighting)
- Communications (911 Dispatch)
- Investigations and Inspections
- Public Education
- Administration
What you’ll take away:
- Confidence built through hands‑on challenges and teamwork
- A look at the many different talents and interests that fit into emergency services
- Encouragement and mentorship from people who are passionate about serving their community
In order to participate in Project Blaze applicants must:
- Identify as female and attending a Richmond Hill high school or be a resident of the City of Richmond Hill attending high school in a neighbouring municipality.
- Possess a valid provincial health card prior to the first day of Project Blaze.
- Be in good physical condition and have a positive attitude.
- Be able to supply your own CSA safety footwear (all other personal protective equipment will be supplied to the participants).
- Be able to provide your own transportation to and from Richmond Hill Fire & Emergency Services Headquarters located at 1200 Elgin Mills Road East, Richmond Hill.
- Submit your registration before the deadline.
- Be committed to attend all Project Blaze activities for the full duration of the program.
Applications begin April 1 and close April 30. It is recommended that applications are submitted early. The program does fill up.
