Hillcrest Mall and the North Toronto Chinese Alliance Church are hosting a captivating Lunar New Year celebration featuring a traditional eye-dotting ceremony to awaken the lion with participation from Mayor David West, Deputy Mayor Godwin Chan and other elected officials.
This event is a great opportunity to welcome the Year of the Horse, connect with the community and celebrate cultural diversity in Richmond Hill.
A vibrant floral art installation will make for the perfect photo moment for family and friends to capture the special occasion.
Family-friendly activities for all ages include:
- Balloon Twisting: Celebrate the Year of the Horse with festive balloon creations
- DIY Star Lanterns: Create traditional Chinese lanterns using red envelopes
- Face Painting: Enjoy Lunar New Year-inspired designs with a modern touch
- Fai Chun Calligraphy: Write auspicious New year wishes for luck and prosperity
- Photobooth: Capture memorable moments against our floral installation
- Lantern Riddles: Solve classic riddles in celebration of the Lantern Festival
- Five-Color Chinese Candy Boxes: Enjoy festive treats and learn about their symbolism
Choir and drum dance performances will commence at 12:45 pm
Lai See (red envelopes) will be handed out at 2:30 pm, followed by an elegant Qipao showcase.
The traditional eye-dotting ceremony will take place at 3 pm
