Nowruz e Siavashan

Event Date:
Tuesday, March 17, 2026 - 8:00pm

Rooted in ancient Iranian tradition, this multidisciplinary performance weaves the mourning rites of Siavash with the arrival of Nowruz, revealing a cycle that continues to echo through Iranian history and into the present.

Siavash, the purest and most innocent figure of the Shahnameh, endures fire, exile, and unjust death, becoming a timeless symbol of integrity tested by power and silence. In ancient Persia, his mourning preceded the spring; with Nowruz came renewal, as if he had passed through fire and been reborn.

Today, that passage feels urgently familiar. As communities endure loss and injustice, the promise of renewal remains.

Through storytelling, music, movement, and visual imagery, this performance invites audiences to experience Nowruz not only as a celebration of spring, but as an act of remembrance, resilience, and quiet resistance, affirming that even in the darkest passage through fire, renewal persists.
